Makeup for me is not something I “play” with. As a little girl, I did not ask for makeup kits and all the accessories. I value being natural—not using makeup to change what you don’t like about your face, but using makeup to highlight your assets. I started wearing makeup in high school and when my mom noticed my new found interest, she didn’t let me experiment in the aisles of our local Rite Aid and fail miserably in picking out eyeshadow. Instead, she took me to the Chanel counter. This is one of my favorite memories with my mom. We spent a day at the Chanel counter where the makeup artist taught me how to put oneyeshadow (the darker shadow goes on the outside of the eyelid in the shape of a sideways “v”). Honestly, my makeup routine has not changed much since that day. I don’t “play” with what I have found to work for me. I have found some different products I like better and this is what I have used for years.
Estee Lauder’s Double Wear Foundation—you can cover anything with this and it doesn’t feel cakey, plus it lasts all day!! No need to touch up.
Lancome’s Hypnose Drama Mascara—all time favorite volume mascara. It lengthens and has a great inky black color that does what the name says—creates some drama!
Naked Eye Palette—you can’t go wrong. My advice here though—don’t feel like you have to wear every color in the palette. Find three—a darker smokey color for the outer part of the eyelid and two lighter colors to blend (I lean towards champagne colors).
I can not live without these products. Now, blush and bronzer—these are things that if I am on a budget, I’ll get the most affordable option. But I’ll save up to continue to always by my essentials—a great foundation, eyeshadow palette, and mascara.
